COACHING
As a "Human Performance Coach" I look for opportunities to increase the mental performance capacity of the individual, team or organization.
This way of coaching is applicable within (top)sport, people with a high risk profession and within the business community. Through a positive and human approach I challenge you, your team or organization to participate in this mental development process.
As a team we will focus on mental resilience and adaptability.Â
To open up in a coaching process you will need to feel a trusting connection with your coach. After all he or she is the one who will face a fierce and often confrontational process together with you. This bond of trust can only be created if this connection is mutual.
BACKGROUND
Over more than 20 years I have been working for the Dutch Ministry of Defense in various military and civillian positions where I have been able to contribute to my own development and that of my collegues. Together with my colleagues I have been in various complex and intense situations during missions in Iraq and Afghanistan where our actions were of vital importance to us as individuals and as a team. During these periods I gained a lot of experience in working as a team and know what skills are important to form a successful team. Defense, rehabilitation and elite sports as a frame of reference.
Using experiences as fuel for recovery, development and achieving your goal(s) is a way to grow, after all, in my opinion all experiences can serve for further development. Looking at possibilities instead of (sometimes temporary) limitations is an important skill.
Within the Military Rehabilitation Center Aardenburg (MRC), part of the Ministry of Defense, I am as a teammember of (para) medical professionals, responsible for the physical and mental recovery of military personnel, police officers and civilians who are rehabilitating within our center after sustaining an injury, traumatic injury or after suffering neurological damage. I am part of a multi-disciplinary team that is managed by a rehabilitation doctor.
The knowledge and skills I already acquired as a soldier and the experience of being deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan, gives me the ability to empathize with the uniformed rehabilitant.
Within my work as a sports and behavioral therapist, I find it very interesting to make the connection between the mental and physical aspect within the rehabilitation.                             Here we mainly work on behavioral change, coping mechanism and reflection, which can contribute to the recovery to the mental, physical and emotional state and development of the individual..
HUMAN APPROACH
My passion for coaching was born out of the experiences I gained in my profession and which I continue to gain. The positive energy I gain from coaching and the contribution I can make within the development of the individual, team or organisation is immense.
Working together to achieve a stable mental state and creating the right mindset is a special experience.
Treat people as you would want to be treated yourself. Wouldn't you? I personally attach a lot of value to this, to be part of a special development process, gaining trust and striving together to achieve a goal. Clear, respectful and transparent communication is also part of this process, without clear communication achieving goals wouldn't be realistic.Â
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM COACHING?
When you threaten to get stuck because of a possible limited insight, traumatic event, mental issues or the pressure of a certain (high risk) job, it might help you to be seen by a coach.
I strive for a personal, human and honest approach that is based on mutual trust.
Not only topsport can create immense mental pressure on a personal level, but also on a team that is constantly faced with this.
Our society can consciously or unconsciously cause stress, thinking of managing a family, striving for perfection at work, beauty ideals, level of education and the seemingly "perfect" life that social media brings you.Through a human and realistic approach, we can get to the core and create new opportunities or insights that can contribute to further mental development and even recovery.
